Embracing the Suck: Overcoming Overcomplication in Life
The Inner Struggle of Perfectionism
Creating this blog post is a necessity. Lately, there's been a prevailing part of me that hesitates to share unfiltered thoughts. I often find myself overthinking and overplanning, which only hinders my progress. It's time for the perfectionistic part of me to take a back seat, as it gets in the way of what I truly want in life.
Unrefined Decisiveness vs. Overcomplication
I've always known that overcomplicating things and endlessly planning pale in comparison to taking action with unrefined decisiveness. Instead of dwelling on the details, I want to focus on living, gaining new experiences, and sharing genuine insights. Oftentimes, the core idea becomes diluted by unnecessary production, leading to less authenticity.
The Power of Authenticity
Authenticity is a powerful force. When we truly speak from the core of our being, it resonates with others. One example of this is my video titled "Inaction is a Slow Death". From start to finish, it showcases my genuine thoughts and feelings. The shots and imagery naturally complemented the message. It's important to let go of overthinking and embrace our true selves.
The Trap of Overcomplication
Like many others, I often forget the essence of what I'm doing. Deadlines, sponsorships, and the pressure to sound smart can cloud our authenticity. However, I've come to realize that simplicity is key. Overcomplicating things, whether it's content creation or going to the gym, only leads to procrastination and missed opportunities.
The Gym Analogy
Let's take going to the gym as an example. When you genuinely want to work out, the best approach is often the simplest. All you need to do is show up, push yourself, and be consistent. The person who consistently shows up and pushes their limits surpasses the person who overthinks workouts, supplements, and diets. It's about putting in the work, even when the idea isn't perfectly refined.
The Power of Showing Up
Content creators who consistently show up and put in the work, regardless of the refinement of their ideas, often find success. It's the action that matters, not the perfection of the concept. Overcomplication and procrastination are forms of denial. By embracing the challenges and discomfort, we can move our lives forward.
Embrace the Suck
Changing your life, developing virtues, and eliminating vices isn't complicated, but it's far from easy. Embracing the suck means acknowledging the challenges and pushing through them. Denial only leads to regret and decay. It's time to step out of denial and start moving forward.
Reflecting on Overcomplication
Now, it's your turn to reflect on your own life. What are you overcomplicating? Is there something you want to make progress on? Whether it's a habit change or a lifestyle adjustment, take a moment to consider how you might be overthinking and denying the effort required. Take a deep breath, let go of stress, and simply start taking steps towards your goal.
